Driver Requirements
Insurance Requirements
All Driver Members must maintain valid auto insurance that permits for-hire or pre-arranged transportation, in accordance with their insurer and applicable local or state laws. Standard personal auto insurance that excludes for-hire use is not accepted.
Accepted Coverage Types
Accepted insurance coverage may include:
Commercial Auto Insurance
Livery / For-Hire Insurance
Rideshare Endorsement (where permitted by the insurer)
Coverage availability may vary by location. Drivers are responsible for confirming their policy allows for-hire or pre-arranged transportation.
Why Insurance Is Required
OwnRyde operates as a private, member-only transportation network providing pre-arranged transportation to verified members. Because OwnRyde is not a public Transportation Network Company (TNC), qualifying insurance is required to ensure clarity, protection, and compliance.
Recommended Liability Limits
While minimum coverage is governed by state law, OwnRyde strongly recommends the following limits:
$100,000 bodily injury per person
$300,000 bodily injury per accident
$50,000 property damage
Higher limits provide greater protection.
Document Upload Requirements
Driver Members must upload:
A valid insurance ID card
The full insurance declaration page
All insurance documentation must be active, valid, issued in the driver’s name, cover the vehicle used on OwnRyde, and remain valid at all times. Documents must be clear, legible, unedited, and fully visible.
Ongoing Insurance Compliance
Driver Members are responsible for maintaining continuous coverage, renewing insurance before expiration, and uploading updated documents when policies change. Expired, canceled, or invalid insurance will result in immediate suspension until re-verification is completed.
Insurance Fraud
Insurance fraud is strictly prohibited, including the submission of falsified or altered documents, use of another person’s insurance, or misrepresentation of coverage. Violations may result in permanent removal from the platform and further action.
Airport and Location-Specific Requirements
Certain cities or airports may require higher liability limits, commercial or livery insurance, or additional permits. Driver Members are solely responsible for meeting all local and airport-specific requirements.
What OwnRyde Does Not Provide
OwnRyde does not provide insurance coverage, does not replace or override driver insurance, and does not allow driving with expired or invalid coverage.
Driver Acknowledgment
By driving on the OwnRyde platform, Driver Members acknowledge that maintaining proper insurance is their responsibility and that failure to meet these requirements may result in suspension or removal from the platform.
