OWNRYDE LOST & FOUND POLICY

OwnRyde, Inc. — Private Membership Transportation Platform
Version 1.0 — Effective January 2025

This Lost & Found Policy explains how items left behind in a vehicle are handled by OwnRyde, Driver Members, and Rider Members.

By using the Platform, all Members agree to follow this policy.

1. Rider Responsibility

Rider Members are responsible for:

  • Their personal belongings
  • Ensuring items are collected before exiting the vehicle
  • Checking seats and floors before leaving
  • Keeping valuables secure during the ride

OwnRyde is not responsible for lost or forgotten items.

2. Driver Responsibility

Driver Members must:

  • Check the vehicle between rides
  • Secure found items safely
  • Not open sealed bags or containers
  • Not use, inspect, or tamper with lost items
  • Follow the in-app return process

Driver Members may not:

  • Keep any lost item
  • Sell or discard found items
  • Open purses, backpacks, or luggage
  • Inspect private property without cause

Violations may result in suspension or permanent removal.

3. How Riders Report Lost Items

Rider Members may report lost items through:

  • In-app “Report Lost Item” feature
  • Email: support@ownryde.com

Reports must include:

  • Ride details
  • Description of the lost item
  • Preferred contact method

4. How Drivers Report Found Items

Driver Members must report found items using the in-app “I Found an Item” feature.

Drivers must provide:

  • Trip ID
  • Description of the item
  • A photo of the item (without opening or inspecting it)

5. Item Return Process

Once a match between a Rider and a found item is confirmed:

  • The Driver contacts the Rider using masked communication
  • The return is arranged through the Platform
  • Items must be returned at a safe, public location
  • Items must be returned in the condition found

6. Item Return Fees

Driver Members may receive a return fee for their time and travel.

Standard return fee: $15 – $20 (depending on market)

This fee may include:

  • Time spent returning the item
  • Fuel or travel costs
  • Effort required for the return

Return fees are processed through Stripe.

Drivers may decline item returns if the Rider is unresponsive, the return location is unreasonably distant, or safety concerns exist.

7. High-Value Items

High-value items include, but are not limited to:

  • Mobile phones
  • Wallets
  • Laptops
  • Jewelry
  • Cash

For high-value items, OwnRyde may require additional verification, a secure public handoff, or law enforcement involvement if necessary.

High-value items may not be shipped without explicit approval.

8. Hazardous or Illegal Items

If a Driver Member discovers hazardous or illegal items, including:

  • Weapons
  • Illegal drugs
  • Alcohol
  • Contraband
  • Dangerous materials

Driver Members must:

  • Not return the item
  • Not keep the item
  • Notify OwnRyde immediately
  • Contact law enforcement if there is immediate danger

OwnRyde will advise on next steps.

9. Unclaimed Items

If a lost item is not claimed within 7 days, OwnRyde may choose to:

  • Donate the item
  • Dispose of the item
  • Transfer the item to lost property authorities

Drivers may not keep unclaimed items without explicit approval.

10. Shipping Items

Shipping lost items requires:

  • Approval from OwnRyde
  • Prepaid shipping costs by the Rider
  • Completion of verification steps

Drivers must not ship items without clear instructions and approval.

11. Safety Rules for Return Meetings

During item returns, Drivers and Riders must:

  • Meet at safe, public locations (e.g., stores or gas stations)
  • Avoid private residences
  • Avoid isolated or poorly lit areas
  • Use in-app masked communication
  • Complete returns quickly and professionally

12. Member Acknowledgment

By using OwnRyde, all Members acknowledge and agree that:

  • Riders are responsible for their personal property
  • Drivers must return items in good faith
  • Return fees may apply
  • High-value items require verification
  • Illegal or hazardous items must be reported
  • OwnRyde may dispose of unclaimed items
  • All returns must follow safety procedures
